When I started doing 3D graphic art one of the things I was most taken with was the ability to do space art. I grew up looking up at the stars. I remember watching with my Dad as Neil Armstrong took the first step onto the Moon. Through the last 15 years since I started with graphic art the medium has improved considerably and my ability to get the results I wanted have increased. Here then are some of my pictures that are not from our galaxy. It gave me a chance to let my imagination run wild..
I am fascinated by the Gas Giants.
This picture came about after NASA had shared the news of a planet with three suns and the artist’s picture only had one sun.
This picture was actually inspired by a Doctor Who episode “The Runaway Bride” where the Doctor is showing Donna the beginning of our solar system.
Eventually our sun will go Nova.
I loved ringed planets.
For Stargate fans.
I can see that in the future or on other planets that and enterprising civilization would mine gas planets.
Unmanned explorers will still need to call home.
The interesting thing about these two pictures is that I did the first one and then played around with it. The second picture has the exact same objects as the first but the second moon is merely a reflection.
I saw a picture taken on Earth of a windmill with Haley’s comet flying by and did this picture.
This one just came out perfect.
Playing around with atmosphere effects.
I needed something pretty one evening.
