Another one bites the dust
House Rules Committee Chairman David Dreier (R-Calif.) on Wednesday morning announced from the House floor that he would not seek reelection this year.
"We all know that this institution has an abysmally low approval rating, and the American people are asking for change in Congress, and so I'm announcing today that I will leave the Congress at the end of this year," the 16-term member joked.
But, but, but, I thought the Republicans were so excited about making Obama a one-term president? I thought the tea party was causing a Republican resurgence? What gives?
Looks like Dems will be picking up 4-6 seats in the House in California alone. Add in 3 or 4 in Illinois, 3 more in New York, a few in Texas, and reality setting back in for New Hampshire, Virginia and a few others, and Speaker Pelosi is looking more and more like a feasible reality come November.
Lack of enthusiasm about the top of the ticket, non-partisan redrawing of the maps in CA (causing 4 Pubs to retire rather than seek re-elect in inhospitable districts), and a realization by the American people that right-wingers are the absolute last thing this country wants or needs as we recover from the disastrous policies of Dubya and his cronies in the beginning of this decade.
