So, I've been waiting for a couple of weeks to make a large purchase (around $500) of the new postcard stamps. I had called ahead last week to make sure they would have enough for my order and the manager told me he would order extra just for me. When I got there today, I took my place in a rather slow line, which I really don't mind as I understand that Post Offices are often understaffed these days. However, while I was standing in line, I could hear the Rush Limbaugh show playing quite loudly from a radio behind the counter. I stood there trying to decide whether I should make a stink, but I had too much on my mind today to want to risk getting all worked up about it. Instead, I left and went to the Post Office one mile down the road. (Big city life does have some advantages!)
After I got home, I decided I would not let this slide, so I called up the first Post Office to register my complaint. The phone was answered by a young woman and I figured it was a fairly safe bet that she was not the one responsible for foisting Rush's piggish lies on us innocent customers. I told her my complaint and said that I had taken my business elsewhere. She asked me to hold on a minute and I quickly realized that she was going to put me on the phone with some idiot who would want to argue with me. I told her I didn't have time to have an argument with somebody, but I just wanted to convey the message that I considered playing that program loudly at a place of business was being very disrespectful to the customers.
I think that was the just the right amount of confrontation for me today and it felt good!
