One of the traditional supporting timbers of GOP claims is that they are pro business.
I think that timber just crashed with a loud thud .
With HB 2586, Arizona GOP legislators are approving a measure to create a 'danger warning zone' for all of Arizona within 62 miles of the U.S. Mexico border, citing 'peril' due to the presence and activity of illegal border crossers.
It is true, this time of year we are overrun with dangerous immigrants, who's slow and methodical driving habits put us in great danger... oh wait, wrong immigrants, those are the ones from the north.
This danger zone of peril includes parts of Tucson, where students are known to take Mexican American studies classes, and also towns such as that war torn burb of Green Valley, the hippie infested Bisbee, and Sierra Vista, with its adjacent military base.
They want homeland security to issue travelers warnings like they do for Mexico. My rep, Peggy Judd, who is from Willcox, says she carries a gun at all times because she's so scared. REALLY? I guess she doesn't get out much.
This is total crap. Fear mongering for the sake of political gain, nothing else.
Everyone down here who runs a business that depends on visitors is rolling their eyes and shaking their heads at one more example of GOP insanity.
Southern Arizona is a great place . It is probably safer than any comparable part of the US. Honestly, most folks are pretty mellow down here. The main danger in most places is getting hit by a golf ball gone awry, or getting a cactus thorn in a sensitive spot.
These wanker Republicans continue to roll out the stupidest laws I have ever witnessed. I guess they just aren't satisfied with destroying education and health care, they seem hell bent on driving business and opportunity ,(except for mining), away from the state .
Call or email Rep. Judd or the other GOP state reps and let them know they really don't need to be scared, and really do need to quit trying to scare others.
Southern AZ is a great place and we'd rather not have our state gov officially trying to drive away visitors, residents and business. What they are saying is a bunch of hooey, they are just trying to drum up fear to get votes.
Please see link for article on the measure and read with head shaking hilarity , Judd's reasoning.
