This is really short because I'm being called to dinner. After more than 48 hours of unrelenting pressure, Carbonite CEO David Friend has finally announced that Carbonite is pulling support from Rush Limbaugh's show.
Carbonite To Drop Ads From Limbaugh's Show Despite Apology
“No one with daughters the age of Sandra Fluke, and I have two, could possibly abide the insult and abuse heaped upon this courageous and well-intentioned young lady. Mr. Limbaugh, with his highly personal attacks on Miss Fluke, overstepped any reasonable bounds of decency. Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.”
Update now that dinner has been scarfed down (sorry, mom, I know you hate that word).
Over the past 48 hours there have been 10's of thousands of twitter messages, facebook posts, emails and phone calls to Carbonite on this issue. Many DKos members have participated as well as people outside our little circle.
Among DKos members, in particular earicicle's opus diary was a major engine of effort.
On twitter, @KrystalBall1 provided much of the energy with a recent (and I believe not insignificant assist) from @neilhimself (Neil Gaiman).
This battle is won, but the war (and this is war) goes on. ProFlowers in particular is still holding out. By the way, did you know ProFlowers has Rush Limbaugh discount codes?
ProFlowers Rush Limbaugh Codes, Coupons, & Discounts

Sun Mar 04, 2012 at 5:47 AM PT: Just a quick update re ProFlowers. Seems they have at least had the hindsight to pull the Rush Limbaugh discount codes from their website.

And, as always, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been keeping th pressure on the various companies who advertise(d) on Limbaugh's show.
