As advertisers continue to abandon Limbaugh, a steady momentum has been building. Today, that momentum has resulted in an abandonment from a significant advertiser which,, previously, had refused to budge: AOL.
Below has just been posted on the company's Facebook page:
At AOL one of our core values is that we act with integrity. We have monitored the unfolding events and have determined that Mr. Limbaugh’s comments are not in line with our values. As a result we have made the decision to suspend advertising on The Rush Limbaugh Radio show.
This is a significant abandonment to
go along with the scores of advertisers which have chosen, under the weight of significant popular pressure after Limbaugh's ugly smearing of
Sandra Fluke and
non-apology, to pull their names and logos from being associated with Limbaugh.
Now, one of the major companies which had refused to budge, AOL, has been moved by a current that is sweeping (perhaps) Limbaugh into his long-overdue irrelevance.
Limbaugh's day of reckoning is drawing closer thanks (in part) to the boisterous activism coming from those countless among us who refuse to let this partisan bully to continue unchallenged.
And companies are, for a change, listening to the voices of those aggrieved rather than to that of Limbaugh.
For them, it's about the bottom line. For us, it's about justice, decency and respect for both the truth and for those mistreated by Limbaugh's pulpit.
And both streams are aligning.
