I should never turn on c-span. Bad news again today. Transportation bill that would deliver over a million jobs could not get past the cloture vote. This is the same bill that they voted earlier last week with the Blunt anti-women contraceptive amendment attached. This particular version is a reform bill that could actually help the people in construction in every state. BUT STILL THE REPUGS vote against it.
What other poison pills are they going to try and add to this bill to insure its passage?
At this point in time of American history, this country is so divided and some states and their governors, senators, and reps so odious and all wrapped up in religious ideology mixed with birthers, anti-choicers, gun clingers, etc, I am not holding out much hope for a change in our national conversations regarding these United States which is looking a lot less united in history save the Civil War.
Texas is reducing health care aid to poor women mainly because the only provider in many of these areas where these unfortunate women reside is Planned Parenthood. Therefore, don't give them help, so says the State of Texas.
Disgusting.
Democrats do not have any chance of taking control of the governors houses in Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arizona, Texas.
When President Obama is re-elected, nothing much is going to change. The Senate if it is held by the Democrats will still be subjected to the filibuster, federal judges confirmation will still be held-up for no reason. The only thing that Obama can do is appoint Supreme Court judges.
Anything else will be subjected to paralysis, more debt-ceiling dramas, more anti-women choice votes and it is getting to be very old.
Compromising and taxing the Job creators are off the table.
Am I a citizen of the United States of America? Or am I a citizen of the Divided States of America?
I am thinking the latter. But if we were united, we could indeed solve our problems rationally.
