The California State Parks Foundation is hosting 18 environmental improvement projects at parks throughout California on Saturday, April 14. This is part of its 15th Annual Earth Day Restoration and Clean-up program. The foundation is giving grants of up to $15,000 in cash and in-kind donations to parks. This will help in the completion of larger projects that would otherwise be on maintenance backlogs.
There are sponsors and such as well, kicking in things like refreshments but they need labor. That is us, we plant the trees and native plants, uproot the invasives, install sprinklers, maintain paths, pick up trash and all that. Us means you too, the parks, sorely besieged of late, need volunteers for part of one lousy day, so let's do it.
"How?" you may ask
Go here, sign in or create an account, pick a park, sign up and make a note on your to do list. It is that simple. They need hundreds of volunteers, surely we Kossacks can provide some of them.
