The chief problem in writing a diary about the clowns at "One Million Moms" is that, like the "Tea Party Patriots", they've embedded some bullshit into their very name, and you end up spreading a bit of their lie simply by talking about them. So, I'm going to open with this quote from Ellen DeGeneres:
Not that there's anyone counting, but for a group that calls themselves the million moms, they only have 40,000 members on their Facebook page.
They're rounding to the nearest million, and I get that.
OK, now, on to the double helping of FAIL.
One: Having failed to get any traction whatsoever, OMM is giving up its ludicrous campaign to force JC Penney's to remove La Ellen as its spokesperson. Monica Cole, a Director of OMM, says "other issues require her group's attention", so OMM is moving on.
"But we have heard back from so many of our members," she shares. "We have heard back from men and women -- not just moms -- saying they will no longer shop there at JC Penney, as long as Ellen DeGeneres is their spokesperson."
Cole believes OneMillionMoms has done its job by educating members about the retailer and urging them to take their business elsewhere. She says only time will tell how business goes for JC Penney.
Do you recognize that rhetorical device there at the end? It is the same one that all wingnuts use when defeated by facts and reason - they retreat to a fact-free, impossible-to-prove-or-disprove comforting fantasy about the future.
Two: OMM called for a boycott of Toys R'Us because it was stocking an Archie comic that featured a gay wedding.

Result? The issue sold out.
Although maybe that actually counts as a success for OMM. They asked the great American public to
send Toys 'R' Us an email letter requesting they remove all the same-sex "Just Married - Archie" comic books immediately from their shelves.
And what do you know - all the copies were indeed, almost immediately, removed from the shelves!!!
