She says you are not alone
Laying in the light
Put out the fire in your head
And lay with me tonight
As so many holidays have lost their appeal for me these days, birthdays are eternal and unique, there is that one and only which I will always choose to celebrate. We meet people on this journey of ours, this life we've been given and we all choose what we wish to do with it as best we can, with what we have. We are known by our stories and our efforts and if we can somehow allow the noise to subside and if we can possibly set aside the pain, the quiet voice in our hearts will tell us all we need to know.

Roxine, my friend, checks on me often and I wonder how expansive a heart can be, how wide can arms extend to wrap a hug around so many, to shield and comfort and give solace to every child. Somehow, despite a childhood so tragically interupted she does this in our diaries, accepting everyone who visits with her warmth and passion and encouragement because there exists in Roxine The Universal Mother and in her lives the absolute maternal truth that there is no such thing as too much love, an overabundance of compassion or too many hugs.

And just as songs have their interpretation, determined by the undeniable truth of our own lives, we hear them as no one else does, as we know life to be, Roxine did not accept the dark.

She sees him laying in the bed alone tonight
The only thing a touching him is a crack of light
Pieces of her hair are wrapped around and round his fingers
And he reaches for her side, for any sign of her that lingers

Roxine has come through, where there was once only a glimmer and maybe a small light that lingered, a reminder that there should never be that much pain given to a child, there is now an incredible woman and a mother to us all. She knows the dark is not all there is, it is not the end, it's a beginning and that whatever pain exists is there to be healed.

It has now become her lifes' work, there's a website now being built.

'I want to take credit cards for donations

I want to have a message board

I want to have a real-time chat function

I want to have a testimonial page'

All this born from SwedishJewfishs' original diary, SallyCat starting our Tree Climber group and now a further committment to ensure that more stories are heard, that the silence that has kept us all in that dark is no longer acceptable.

Our birthdays are eternal and unique, like snowflakes and fingerprints, a singular moment in time that breathes sweet life into each of us and announces us to the world, I can think of no better tribute than to tell you all, that today is Roxines' birthday.

Happy Birthday dear Roxine, my friend.
Thank you.
I check my kos mail often.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
