Last week (3/9/12) on the Bill Press Show, I heard an interview with Dennis Kucinich in which he expressed bitterness at the nastiness of Marcy Kaptur's campaign and refused to endorse her.
The problem is that in politics, if someone runs a gutter-level campaign, you're just expected to say its ok and you move on. And Marcy's been my friend for 30 years and I have to tell you, it was pretty surprising the kind of campaign that was run, it was more worthy of Karl Rove than my friend Marcy Kaptur.

Dennis Kucinich Isn't Going Graciously He must have been
referring to
a pro-Kaptur Democratic Super PAC called Ohioans for Opportunity is running radio ads in Lorain County that repeat charges about Kucinich's voting record that "have been reviewed, analyzed and discredited by Politifact as half truths."
Interesting. I wondered how she would respond to that.
Well today (3/13/12) on Bill Press, she hits back. She accuses him of using an equivalent Super PAC smear campaign, without mentioning the name. Kaptur was referring to the Campaign for Primary Accountability, and their anti-Kaptur TV ads and robo calls. In The Plain Dealer, Kaptur campaign manager Steve Fought denies knowing about negative Kucinich ads, but calls for
television stations in Cleveland and Toledo to stop running anti-Kaptur ads placed by another Super PAC, based in Texas, called Campaign for Primary Accountability.
So every election from here on out will be a Rock-em Sock-em robots battle of the Super PACs to see who can inflict the most negative damage. And
negative ads work. Maybe I'm an idealist, but I think this sucks. Our number one priority should be to overturn Citizens United, eliminate Corporate Personhood, and elect true progressive candidates.
