I'm not going to link to any of it, but any time something bad happens below the Mason-Dixon line, we are ahem treated to all manner of hateful comments regarding the South.  So progressive!  I'm not going to pretty this up with any real writing, either.  My point is simply this:

I don't know who the fuck you think you are, but your part of the country is no better than any other part of the good ol' U.S. of A.  So, all the Kossacks currently living in and/or hailing from the South would really appreciate it if you'd evolve enough to not habitually mischaracterize and insult an entire region of the country.

I'm really sick of it and you'd be hard pressed to convince me others weren't as well.  So, all y'all, kindly knock it the fuck off.

I present to you a partial list, off the top of my head, of asshat politicians decidedly not from the South:

et fucking cetera

Now I present a partial list of America's other problem children who are also decidedly not from the South

Focus on the Family (Colorado)
Rush Limbaugh
Mormon interference with Prop 8
Speaking of Prop 8, if I recall, most of the anti-equality efforts have been in more northern climes
Kansas, where they recently decided that domestic abuse wasn't something the police should be bothering themselves over

et fucking cetera

If you cannot/will not refrain from insulting people in an entire swath of the country, then you must hereby immediately forswear enjoying/appreciating of all of the following:

molly ivins
jim hightower
steve martin
chicken fried steak
dr. pepper
pecan pie
huey long
The Clintons
james mcmurtry
his father
Texas Instruments
your Dell computer
our very own Nurse Kelley and countless other Kossacks

et FUCKING cetera

Thanks for listenin'.  Y'all come back now, y'hear?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
