It is simple and practical, though a gargantuan task - to change what is an obvious, errant protocol. I wish to start the banter and hope to see a solution and suggest the use of 3 dots with a "close/ right square bracket ( "]") sign.
How many times have you desired to write a limited amount of words, only to be perplexed at the fact that the protocol of put a "n/t" (meaning No Text) - at the end; which can be misconstrued as resposive retort of "NOT".
such as the following examples;
Good comment n/t
or
I totally agree, your are spot on with your insight n/t
Feel free to suggest other solutions - but it is most certainly worth discussion. Regardless of the fact that we are all aware of the protocol, the "not" possibility comes to mind (sometimes as a humorous slant). It is much more simple and has very little chance of being thought of as anything else, to simply put in
"Good comment ....]"
or
" I totally agree, your are spot on with your insight ..."
I'm just sayin..........
UPDATE
Due to much discussion thereof - we all agree the n/t is entrenched, some agree with me that it is draconian and others (many) say (while still participating in the debate)- that they don't care.
I would suggest that, had this premise of question come from a more esteemed party; the comments would have went to the moon.
Be that as it may - the "asdf" issue has become a runner up discussion for another day.
Meantime - here is an "asdf" movie from YouTube - apropos to the air of discussion here.
OKAY - for you late comers and those returning. The above video producer has some neatO stuff.
here's another 1 from same source
