Here is my views, mostly leaning a bit left, sometimes totally left, but mine anyway. I watch democracy slowly disappear and think about when is America going to wake up.

Today I discovered something disturbing... an executive order, issued late Friday. In this executive order, government control of everything is spelled out... yes, I said everything.

The Executive Order

Please read this and give me your take on what this is. I think it needs a lot of explanation from the White House...

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

it's all legalese "pursuant to..." blah blah blah.

Basically, I believe it's saying we cannot afford a mine shaft gap.

    with stuff like this:

Sec. 102.  Policy.  The United States must have an industrial and technological base capable of meeting national defense requirements and capable of contributing to the technological superiority of its national defense equipment in peacetime and in times of national emergency.  The domestic industrial and technological base is the foundation for national defense preparedness.  The authorities provided in the Act shall be used to strengthen this base and to ensure it is capable of responding to the national defense needs of the United States.

It's the National Defense Resources Preparedness Order.  It basically gives the executive branch the power to pretty much commandeer any and all resources in time of a national emergency.  There are lots of web sites on the right that are all a-twitter about this.

    Here's some junk:

Under this order the heads of these cabinet level positions; Agriculture, Energy, Health and Human Services, Transportation, Defense and Commerce can take food, livestock, fertilizer, farm equipment, all forms of energy, water resources, all forms of civil transporation (meaning any vehicles, boats, planes),  and any other materials, including construction materials from wherever they are available.  This is probably why the government has been visiting farms with GPS devices, so they know exactly where to go when they turn this one on.
from Canadian Free Press, which seems to be kinda like Free Republic, so who knows?

It seems really reasonable that emergency powers be set up and ready to go.  It seems really unreasonable that it's all in an executive order instead of an act of Congress. But then, that would require Congress to Act, which seems unlikely.

Here's an idea: how about the people run the government and the corporations can line up for whatever we leave for them.
