It started slowly.
The cable folks were installing new internet service.
I sat on the front porch to see what they were doing.
Then she was there.
She, the most lovely woman in the universe, looked at me am gave a bit of a smile.
But there were lots of folks there at the time, so we could not really converse.
The little one, who I think of as my own daughter, wanted to see me. So we did, across the fence.
She and I threw a small ball at each other for a few minutes, and then everyone else went home.
I asked The Girl if we could reboot our relationship. She asked me to visit with her on the porch.
We talked, and talked, and talked.
I baked her a red velvet cake.
She iced it, after I took it to her house.
Then she cut my hair. Mostly with the clippers.
Then she saw flaws.
She used the scissors to clean up the flaws.
She told me that I am her best friend.
She put lotion onto my scalp, gently and lovingly, with her fingers and hands.
I was spellbound.
I really love her.
What else can I say?
Warmest regards,
Doc
