Wow. I just watched Lawrence O'Donnell rip into the City Manager of Sanford Florida for the first 12 minutes of his show Wednesday night over how the city, especially its police chief, mishandled the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
O'Donnell crushed this dude, I believe his name is Norton Bonaparte, over what the city published on its Website under the title of "Frequently Asked Questions" regarding the shooting death of young Trayvon Martin. As it turns out, these FAQs are full of holes and inconsistencies and essentially have the city acting as the advocate of the shooter -- George Zimmerman. Bonaparte's only defense was that these FAQs were written and provided to him by the police chief. Apparently, Bonaparte took this stuff from a suspect police chief and approved that it be posted on-line word-for-word as if it was the gospel truth.
O'Donnell charged into Bonapart like a cross between a trained prosecutor and a savage pit bull. Bonapart sat there like a wide-eyed zombie, not knowing what to say or how to say it for vast stretches of the interview. I swear Bonapart was so stunned, overwhelmed and angry that he didn't even blink once during the entire interview with O'Donnell or during the follow-up interview with Rev. Al Sharpton.
It was priceless TV and pointed out how preposterous it is that this police chief still has his job and more importantly, that George Zimmerman has still not been arrested, charged and convicted of murder.
My wife and I live about an hour and a half from Sanford and will drive up there to participate in Thursday's rally. We just feel a very strong need to do something in the face of this travesty. May God bless Trayvon's family. We are all in with them.
Another question: Where the hell is George Zimmerman? This murderer and his murder weapon could be safely in Siberia by now.
