So I've decided that I'm seriously interested in attending this year's Netroots Nation, after having missed it the previous years. However, I'm not exactly certain what I would be going for. From NN2012's website:
Each year, thousands of bloggers, newsmakers, social justice advocates, labor and organizational leaders, grassroots organizers and online activists come together . . .
Well, I'm not really a blogger (though I have run blogs from time to time in the past).
And I'm hardly a newsmaker.
And I'm not a social justice advocate (except informally)
And I'm not a labor and organizational leader.
And I'm not a gressroots organizer.
And I'm only barely an online activist (more like an online crank).
So what would be a purpose of my joining in? I need to come up with some rationale(s) for the time and expense of attending (I would be coming from San Diego). Not to mention a couple of solid reasons to placate my better half, who suffers from my absence during too-frequent business trips as it is. I'd love to meet everyone, but I think I need more than that. :-)
Any thoughts you folks might have would be more than welcome.
Thanks!
