Maybe I'm over-reacting, but it seems to me that the bad guys are winning.
We have the Trayvon Martin murder. Bottom line question. If the young man was a 17 year old white male; would he have been shot? I seriously doubt it.
Today in San Diego, a 32 year old woman from Iraq was severely beaten. A hate note was left at the scene. She had received hate notes before.
It goes on and on. We have the war on workers going on in many states. We also have the war on women going on in many states. We have the Republicans trying to prevent minorities and seniors from being able to vote. The FBI says that the number of hate groups has increased exponentially since President Obama was elected. The number of guns sales is through the roof. It goes on and on and on.
I am scared to death what will happen in the next seven months before the election.
Where is all this hate coming from? Has it always been here?
I'm 61 years old. I know when I was growing up we had the KKK and civil rights battles. Women were kept out of the workplace - or at least kept in certain categories of jobs that were okay for women. But I have to say, it never seemed this bad. Maybe now we are just more aware of it because of 24 hour news, the internet and social media.
This is supposed to be a democracy. Democracy is messy, but things are supposed to be settled at the ballot box. Not with guns. We are supposed to have intelligent discussions on the issues of the day. Not all this hate.
Is it just my imagination, or are things worse now than previously? Where is this all going to end? What can we do to stop it and have cooler heads prevail? I'm scared for this country.
