I want to go on with this series but I need help from you out there. Here is one of the helpful comments I received.
This series has strayed into the impenetrable, at times ... ideas and concepts that are important and relevant, but which demand a serious commitment in time and energy to digest and respond to.
I would respectfully suggest that you continue to try to tease out some of these ideas, but do so in a way that is easier for more folk to access.
I am not suggesting that you should, in any way, dumb down the content ... merely recognise that this is a unique medium that requires a certain approach.
We need to come together here because I am not trying to impress anyone. "Dumbing down" is a bad way of saying make it clear! I want to do that but I can only do it if I get your feedback...I acknowledge that often I am not "gentle" in my responses. I ask you all to look at my tag line.. We have to rise above egos and defense mechanisms because this stuff is important to our survival.
I'm going to pull out the stops now. I have this immense feeling of urgency that I have tried to hold back. Folks we are in a crisis! Read on below and I'll explain why I say that my concept of the capitalist system is very likely only partially coincident with yours. It is a greed driven system but even so there is much more to it than that from a systems point of view. The ideas I am trying to expose in this series of diaries are also behind, but far ahead of those nearly useless concepts., Possibly the most stifiling aspect of the way we dwell in the quagmire of our ideas is that they miss the accelerated changes in our world so badly.
It is very difficult to find a way of saying to you that what we have believed about science and its relation to our world view is lacking. this is especially true because as science feeds into technology we see wonders! It is very hard to see what we might have had if the whole process had not been totally enslaved by the capitalist system. Before you react to what I just said realize that this system has been named "capitalist" and we have identified it that way for a long time. That is a very outdated concept in my mind. Capitalism has evolved into something much more powerful.. We do not have words nor concepts to deal with accelerating evolutuion of our socioenconomic whatever system.
Just to touch base, I really can not imagine what Marx would say if he were alive now.. for that matter I cant imagine what Max Weber or Adam Smith or any of the others would say. Folks the times they are a changing and they are changing very fast!
So what I have been trying to tell you is that since the 1950s there has been a growing awareness that what Descartes and others set out bas a the path for science is not wrong but very limiting and that it no loner serves our needs because as we have evoved into a global economy and a global technological system we have accelerated our capacity for self destruction at an enormous rate!
I am not all that well at the moment so I am going to stop for now (Just a bug). I will go on if you do your part. Stop being afraid to comment. Your comments feed me. Disregard my tone in responding. Dig for the meaning. We will do well together for we are all in this together.
