Hey there everybody! It's Tuesday night so it's that time again - time to leave all the bad news and politics behind us and instead focus on escaping into our favorite songs.
I lost a close friend yesterday midday. He was my right hand man at my job - I'm the manager of a small trailer park/campground and he hired me for the owner and handled everything that had to do with the groundskeeping. He was essentially the overseer of the park. He was 76, but he was a healthy and active 76. Mister Hank will live a long life in our memories. He was an old salty bastard - a Captain in the Merchant Marines - and he'd been everywhere and had a storied life - he was legend.
Yesterday, he had just gotten back from the store and was outside his trailer, right by my office, getting ready to plant his tomatoes, and he had a massive coronary, just a couple minutes after talking to his neighbors. I called 911, but when i got to him a couple minutes after he collapsed, I could tell he was probably already gone. We had his neighbor doing CPR, and there was no pulse and no breath and you could just tell. It was gut-wrenchingly sudden. So I'm grieving right now, and it just seemed an appropriate topic.
Tonight's theme is songs about death and loss and all that come with it, whether they be happy memories or missing folks or just plain dying. It can also be songs using the words death, dying, loss, and related terms. Or songs off albums that are titled one of those terms.
So are what are some of the songs off your favorite songs about death and loss?
Come below the kosquiggle for some of mine!
Also, one quick note: In an effort to try to cut the upload time, if you can remember, when you go to embed in the comments, you can change the size to a smaller one, like 350 width. Maybe this will help. If it doesn't, back to the drawing board. And no worries if you don't want to or don't remember - no big! :D
