and USA Today 'appears' to try and soften the blow with passive writing, or at least that is what I think...
Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, employing the unique writing style he uses on Twitter, sent out this message yesterday: "Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence. Bcause Am ppl r not stupid as this x prof of con law."
That last line translated: "Because American people are not stupid as this ex-professer of constitutional law."
Now, to be up front, I thought Bush was stupid and I feel pretty certain I was (and remain) correct. And, lest I appear TOO partisan, I have developed a distaste for Obama's 'style', but the last thing the man is is "stupid'.
Grassley, of course, is attacking the president over healthcare as Obama is putting pressure on the SCOTUS to not strike down his healthcare reform, a centerpiece of republican hopes. Grassley, sadly, is a top republican on the Senate Judicary Committee.
David Axlerod responds in kind:
Axlerod, of course, is just too kind.
Republicans, again sadly, are leaders in this country and while a nobody like myself can say unflattering things about a president, they aren't really supposed to.
But then, Republicans expect to get away with ignoring the rules with impunity while the rest of us are expected to maintain decorum; Grasshole... I mean Grassley just demonstrated this.
And it is this repeated violation of 'decorum' that sends a message to the racist base of the GOP that such disrespect of the president is "OK".
People like me had and retain huge disdain from George Bush, but we aren't in an official capacity. If I worked for the Federal Government, as a professional, I WOULD bite my tongue, if Bush was still presidentin'.
Thank God and term limits he's not.
Grasshole is out of line.
