Republican priorities:
“The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”
-Republican Senator Mitch McConnell in 2010
The Republicans in D.C. haven’t made their first priority getting our economy back on track and putting Americans back to work. They haven’t worried about educating our children or fixing our healthcare system. Nope! They put politics above country – at all of our expense.
Enough.
This Sunday, I’ll be supporting Barack Obama at my precinct caucus. For three-and-a-half years, I’ve done everything I could to help him succeed as President, pulling policy to the left to counter Republican pressure from the right, organizing progressives in and out of Congress, and working to ensure that health care reform, jobs bills, and the energy bill passed the House.
Now I’m working to ensure he gets another four years as President – because even when we disagree on tactics, the President and I are on the same side working to build a better country.
It’s going to take all of us working together to get our country back on track. If you’re in Washington State, please go to your precinct caucus on Sunday – you can find your caucus location here.
But there’s something else we can all do, no matter where in the country you live. Can you commit to having one conversation every week between now and November with a friend, neighbor, or coworker about why they should vote?
Together, we can defeat the radical and destructive Republican agenda. But we can only do it face to face, voter by voter, developing community bonds that no amount of well-funded propaganda can break. I hope you’re with me.
Very best,
Darcy
