Short diary to promote an amazing episode (a rebroadcast of a show from June 2011, but I just heard it yesterday) of the radio show Intelligence Squared, which conducts an Oxford-style debate about a controversial topic or motion in front of an audience. The audience is polled before & after the debate. Sometimes these motions are a little absurd--perhaps deliberately so to stir the idea pot--& sometimes they are very much grounded in current events, with high profile debaters who are deeply involved. Anyone with an interest in journalism, state claims to secrecy, & WikiLeaks for example should set aside an hour and listen to this.
