Just got the "breaking news" email from CNN. And then verified it over at ABCnews.com
Dick Clark, the music industry maverick, longtime TV host and powerhouse producer who changed the way we listened to pop music with "American Bandstand," and whose trademark "Rockin' Eve" became a fixture of New Year's celebrations, died today at the age of 82.
Clark's agent Paul Shefrin said in statement that the veteran host died this morning following a "massive heart attack."

What can one say? So many here, including myself, grew up with this guy on TV. I used to watch Bandstand on Saturdays. I admit it - I watched it more to see the pretty girls than for the music. Later on, it bugged the hell out of me that all the acts were lip synching. Still it was a ground breaking show.
So many memories. That's not even bringing up all the New Years Eve's with Dick Clark.
Truly the passing of a legend.
