Democrat Paul Hirschbiel is running for Congress against the totally useless Republican Scott Rigell in Virginia's 2nd District. Jim Webb will be leaving the Senate and George Allen (Mr. Macaca) is challenging our former Governor Tim Kaine for that Senate seat.
I have made a modest donation to Mr. Hirschbiel's campaign today and I will actively work for his election in November. I support Tim Kaine for the Senate and I find it very hard to believe that Mr. Macaca has the slightest chance of winning since he pretty much bankrupted the state when he landed in the Governor's mansion from '94 to '98. Mark Warner, Democrat, had to clean up the mess after Allen's disasterous adminstration.
President Obama deserves to have a Congress that will work with him to get things done for the American people. He can't do it if we continue to send do-nothing republicans who want to set America back.
We need to change the dialog in this country from cutting and/or ending social programs in favor of tax cuts for the wealthy. We need to protect our environment and expand green energy in stark contrast to de-regulation of dirty oil and coal production. We need to end the in-equality in the tax code for millionaires and corporations.
And as far as contraception goes, it is not a political issue. It is a private issue that should not be up for debate, give us the option of getting birth control and make sure it is covered under our insurance policies. Period, end of sentance!
Virginia is considered a "swing state" for President Obama, I really believe he will win Virginia and be elected for 4 more years, but it won't be worth spit if he can't get anything done, because we the people have sent a bunch of brain dead repugs back to DC.
Let's get this done district by district, state by state. "Hope and Change" are still alive and well.
