The Sunday Puzzle series was started by Julie Waters (or juliewolf, as she posted by back then) on October 28, 2007. I believe her first JulieCrostic on Daily Kos appeared December 30, 2007.
Julie died two weeks ago. In her honor, Sunday Puzzle is featuring the Julie Waters memorial puzzle challenge -- a challenge Julie herself created, and which no one has ever completed!
The Challenge launched in last week's Sunday Puzzle Warm-Up with the first 10 puzzles in the series, and continued in the regular Sunday Puzzle. So far we have completed 34 of the first 40 puzzles (which comprise Phase I of the Challenge).
Tonight I'll re-post the 6 puzzles that didn't get solved last week, preview the first 10 puzzles of Phase II, provide a hint to the answers to two of the Challenge puzzles which went unsolved last week. All that and a new JulieCrostic!
If you love puzzles, if you loved Julie, or if you'd like to take part in sharing memories of a wonderful and multi-talented woman, I hope you'll drop by Sunday Puzzle tomorrow morning where the Julie Waters Memorial Puzzle Challenge will continue. If you come by, feel free to take part in the puzzle-solving, share memories of Julie, or share memories of the things Julie loved (such as music, art, birds and life).
Tonight's puzzles coming up, right below the nurple.
These are the puzzles which went unsolved last week. (I'll reveal the answers tomorrow morning if no one solves them before then.)

how to solve JulieCrostics
Read the clues provided, then fill in answers to match the clues in the appropriately numbered spaces in the diagram.
Each word in a row has all the letters of the previous word in that row, plus one new letter.
Write the new letter in the space between the answers. For example, if the answers in a row were CRAG, CARGO and COUGAR, you'd place an "O" in the space between CRAG and CARGO, a "U" in the space between CARGO and COUGAR.
When you have filled in all the spaces correctly, the columns formed by the added letters should spell out related words. It might be a person's name, such as CHARLES DICKENS (spelled out in two columns). It might be the title of a book or movie, such as GONEW ITHTH EWIND (spelled out in three columns). It might be almost anything. Your challenge is to figure out what the verticals say and what they mean.
