Usually, Blue Dog Democrats at least try to hide their right-wing positions during primary campaigns. But not Scott Peters in California's 52nd congressional district...

KUSI-TV reporter: Do you favor cuts in entitlements: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid?

Scott Peters: Yeah.

(See full video here.)

This is one of Democrats' top opportunities to beat a Republican incumbent -- there's no reason to hand it to a Blue Dog. Today, we endose Lori Saldaña in this race -- a bold progressive fighter who will be a strong ally of Elizabeth Warren in Congress.

Can you chip in $3 to help Lori defeat Scott Peters in her primary on June 5? Click here.

When we first talked with Lori last October, we were impressed. A three-term state legislator and university educator, Lori is a passionate fighter for middle-class families and opposes cuts to Social Security and Medicare. "I want Democrats to have backbone," she says.

A few weeks later, we held a press conference where progressive candidates delivered thousands of petition signatures to House Speaker John Boehner's office, demanding a jobs bill. Lori stole the show!

Watch Lori fight for the 99% and clash with John Boehner's office! Then, chip in $3 to help Lori win!

(And share this post with your friends on Facebook and Twitter to spread the word about this bold progressive candidate!)

This seat is held by vulnerable Republican Brian Bilbray. Lori's primary opponent is former San Diego city council member Scott Peters, who the San Diego Union Tribune says bears "much of the blame" for "corrupt practices" that destroyed the pension fund of city workers. And now he supports cutting Social Security and Medicare.

Lori fought for universal health care and public financing of campaigns. She also co-authored California's landmark global warming legislation, and was named legislator of the year by veterans' groups. In Congress, she'll fight for these priorities, and defend the social safety net.

Let's win this seat by nominating a bold progressive voice! Chip in $3 to help Lori today. Then, share this post with your friends so that they can learn more about this bold progressive candidate!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
