I know there have been lots of diaries about the Repubs freakout over a rather modest "yay, us !" Obama ad but seriously, I can't get over the fact that our side, FOR ONCE, has them on the run, on national security no less !!
I 'm not going to lie, there is a little bit of uneasiness on my end about going around doing a victory dance that we killed a man, no matter how horrible they are.
But, honestly, it all goes away when I see the right wing just lose their freaking minds over it. haha.
As the brillant Michael Tomasky writes ( worth a read btw) ,
Republicans will try to intimidate the president into not mentioning how he got bin Laden—because they know it hurts them and makes them look like the incompetents they are.
True. Honestly, why isn't the conversation EVER about how 9/11 happened on
their watch?? These days, it takes one wrong tweet, or one awkward sentence for anyone in government to get fired but on the worst attack on our soil since Pearl Harbor , not only did it not result in asking who dropped the ball, but led to two wars that were so stupid and so damaging to our economy, our deficit, our people and our psyche that I am amazed the people that presided over all of that mess still have a microphone to spew their dangerous rhetoric on the airwaves.
But, it looks like, oh finally, they may have met their match.
The smirk on President Obama's face yesterday was ooohmmm priiicellesssss....I did the unthinkable last night, just because I was feeling brave and smug, I watched Hannity... almost worth it. You could see the steam over his ears. He did mention "the smirk". Oh, they were mad. It was like chocolate cake on a lazy sunday...
Anywho, I hope the administration doesn't back down. To be on the attack for once, to actually show them that they are wrong, wrong, wrong on pretty much everything is even somewhat unsettling. We may get used to this ! ;)
But more than anything, the one thing that feels so good, the basis of pretty much most meta around here is:
".. the real story here—it’s the fact that the Democrats don’t appear to be afraid of the Republicans anymore. That, to Republicans, is what’s truly unacceptable."
About effing time, man... about effin' time.
