I was unusually angered by a Facebook posting this morning of Obama as a clown, and the caption:

"Thanking Obama for killing bin Laden is like going into McDonald's and thanking Ronald McDonald for the hamburger.  It's the guy cooking the burger that should get the credit.  NOT THE CLOWN. THANK YOU SEAL TEAM SIX"
Here is my response; I welcome anyone to use it or a variation
Under Obama's leadership, justice was done for 9/11. Obama was right to command the team to go into Pakistan and kill bin Laden, and the Republicans (including Romney) were clearly wrong in opposing it. The real clowns are the Republican Leaders who retaliated for 9/11 by attacking Iraq, costing thousands of American lives and trillions of dollars. Only that's not funny, it's tragic. And your silly picture just indicates you care more about partisanship than leadership that accomplishes American goals without squandering American lives.
I recognize this is a short diary, but I wanted to share quickly (before work)

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

It's tricky engaging with the dumbest of the gopers when they make these almost inconceivably stupid attacks.  I believe a lot of them know how stupid it is and they take a perverse pleasure in that.  It's meant to enrage the opposition and further confound the apathetic.  Finding ways to make them pay for it is a good thing.

  •  Lincoln reunited the country... (20+ / 0-)

    Churchill Saved Britain.

    FDR liberated Western Europe.

    Truman secured the Japanese Surrender.

JFK Saved the World from Nuclear Destruction.

George H. W. Bush liberated Kuwait.

And Barack Obama delivered justice for 9/11 and Lockerbie.

In each and every case the true burden of war was borne by the combatants.  At every stage, their sacrifice must be recognized as what made victory ultimately possible.

But to not recognize a President for making the correct decisions is to also absolve him of blame when he makes the wrong ones.  Does anyone blame the soldiers for Vietnam, Desert One, the Marine Barracks bombing, Tora Bora, or the Iraqi quagmire?  No.

Our soldiers always act with conviction, professionalism, and bravery.  They make the best out of bad situations (see Anbar province) but they truly shine when they have a commander-in-chief who understands the why, when, and how to deploy them.

Time and again, from Libya to Somalia to Pakistan, our President has deployed our armed forces in such a fashion that has at once advanced our national security and minimized the risks of losses to our forces.  Always daring, never dumb.

For that he deserves credit.  Because what happens to our forces when they have a poor commander-in-chief is far too fresh in our memory.

And even though history paints that mission as somehow being a cakewalk, it was the first known combat deployment for SEAL Team Six, and they lost four men.

And I give Reagan partial credit for ejecting the Soviets from Afghanistan.  Even if it was just him following through on policies begun by the Carter administration, and egged on by a democratic Congress which saw Afghanistan as the 'just war' whereas Republicans were preoccupied with morally dubious conflicts in Angola & Nicaragua.

I've always commended him for his intervention in Liberia.  Unlike his Iraq & Afghanistan adventures, there he made a careful & appropriate application of force.  Swiftly bringing down  one of Africa's worst butchers, Charles Taylor, who just this month convicted for war crimes in the Hague. Our limited action (sending Marines to bolster an African peacekeeping force) helping to put West Africa on a path to stability & even democracy.

it except the freaking chicken hawks.... Pretend soldiers who parade around armed to the teeth threatening anyone who disagrees...

Your comment about leaders is SO FREAKING ON POINT. In Vietnam many soldiers died under the control of bad leaders . I have read about soldiers in WW II and WWI who died for no reason other then bad decisions and orders by hapless leaders.

Those who seek to undermine the nerve and thought that led to the "GO" order are either fools or simply would cut thier nose off to spite thier face.

got done, or the one who ignored the issue for eight years but then trafficked on the huge and on the loose as a goose  Al Quaeda  and Osama ben Laden for political gain, even making puns on Obama's name in elections with it, for all of those years as a political scare tactic without in fact doing anything about it?  If the one in the clown suit did the job, the one in the clown suit gets the credit.
