Minutes, no, seconds after the jobs report for April became public today, Republican front-runner and de-facto nominee, Mitt Romney, and Party Chairman Reince Priebus ( aka two slick, white guys) rushed to the mother ship at Fox News to react with cheerful abandon at the idea that the economy added only 115,000 jobs. Calling the growth "terrible and very, very disappointing" Romney and Piiebus took to the airwaves with cheshire grins to announce that their prediction of gloom and doom for the US Economy, was finally coming to fruition.
"Let not your facts be troubling" as Sean Hannity loves to say. Despite the Bureau of Labor Statistics' recent report showing the number of gross job gains and gross job losses yielded a net employment change of 753,000 jobs in the private sector during the third quarter of 2011--the largest net job gain since the first quarter of 2006. Despite the fact the the unemployment rate continues to decline and job growth continues to increase, Republicans celebrate the the less-than-spectacular news as if it is manna from Heaven, and signals their long-awaited US slide into recession. Perhaps another war would make them even happier? As it is, they continue to advocate for more government job losses.
No sound economic theory has been offered yet, as to why they believe that cutting more jobs will boost the economy, but this is the party line.
Rock on brothers. Crack a beer.
