Welcome to Sunday All Day Brunch. This is an open topic thread. Help yourself to the goodies and relax and let us know what is new in your life. As many of you know I am an avid amateur photographer. I finished going through the picture downloads on my computer to get rid of some of the ones that I won’t be able to use. I love digital photography because I can literally take hundreds of pictures at a time and then pick out the best shots and jettison the rest. I noticed that I like to do a lot of close ups and unusual types of pictures. Follow me below the squiggle for this photographer’s view of life around her.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

As a nation, the U.S. consumes the most hot dogs per capita. So you'd be wise to never underestimate our powers of denial.

OK, we've had two practices now with our bass player. He's fine, the problem is our guitar player is rythmically challenged. He's good, he's got the talent, however this has always been his obstacle. He's leading half the set. He's got a week to step up, I know he can do it. We've got another practice on friday.

Either way, it doesn't really matter to me. I mean half the set rules, the half i wrote. I mean I got the ultimate compliment today. The little 13 year old hotty stood up in front of all of her teen-age friends, and told me I was awesome. I just said thank you and packed my gear away. Don't know what else to say, wow...

At least you know the names of the flowers you take pictures of. I struggle with naming pictures because most of the time I have no idea what the real name of the flower is thus you see a lot of little white flower, fluffy pink flower, purple flower, etc. :-)

Wildflowers id.  It can be frustrating, but with patience I manage to identify about 70% of my wildflowers.  Read the directions/notes.

last night by being in the wrong location. I thought it would be cool to get it coming up next to the mountains, but if I would have been further away, it would have looked bigger. instead, I spent 1 1/2 waiting cuz I got the the time zone wrong, then when it came up, it was puny. Oh well, tonight I will try something else.
I have been a photographer for over 40 years. When digital first came out, I thought, NO WAY.
Then I got a 1mg camera that took 6 lousy pictures and I was hooked.
I have a Canon 40 D and I too love the way I can take the same picture a millions times, then throw it away.
I would take a whole roll of film and get 2 pictures worth saving.

Except I missed it because the heavy cloud cover hid the moon completely. Being an artist since I couldn't photograph it I just went ahead and did an art piece instead.

I keep trying to learn to draw. I went to Mammoth Lakes which is the back side of Yosemite. The mountains there over the lakes are awesome, but very hard to photograph.
I came across a guy who was pencil drawing the scene I wanted to photograph. He had it just right.
I even have a program that teaches me to draw and I still can't get it right.
Even my friends won't play pictionary with me.

So cloudy all day, you couldn't get a hint of the Sun's location; forget about the moon. Stayed in after dark.

pix is that most photographers use zoom or telephoto. Every full moon is a supermoon if you magnify it. A giant moon next to a building. A giant moon next to a mountain. I don't think I've seen a single photo of the supermoon  as it appeared  to the naked eye.

Made almost eggs benedict this AM, cut a few corners to make it less work (and less fattening).

Made a batch of biscuits yesterday (finally mastered the knack!); the leftovers were calling out, "Wouldn't I make a great base for eggs Benedict?" Of course English muffins, even store-bought ones would be great too, but the biscuits were inspiration.

Besides the ready-made biscuits, I took 2 shortcuts:

Instead of Hollandaise sauce, I made an easier and lower fat sauce: lemon sabayon (Makes more than enough for two)

    5 Tbs white wine
    2 large egg yolks

Whisk constantly in a bowl over (not in) a pan of simmering water until thickened. Add

Zest (opt) and juice of 1/2 lemon
    Salt, pepper, cayenne to taste

Continue to whisk for a minute or 2 then remove from heat while you nuke (yes, microwave!) the poached egg.

Place your whole, unbroken egg in a bowl. Add water until the egg is just covered. Remove egg, open, and slip gently into the bowl of water. The directions I read said to cook on 70% power for 1 minute (I needed 1 minute 15 seconds. This gives a very liquid yolk. Today I tried 60% power for 1 minute 50 seconds, this time the yolk was a tiny bit too firm. You'll need to experiment.)
Nuked a slice of spicy cappicola for 30 seconds, and I was ready for assembly.

    Yum!

I just finished doing a chicken stir fry for dinner. I tried to incorporate all the elements of hot, spicy, sweet, sour, and salty. It came out real good.
