So last night I attended a presentation by a woman who sits on the board of the Federal Reserve. Very smart, educated, talented lady, built up a very successful business from nothing. Just the sort of person you would want on an oversight board. And yet she:
Supports the repeal of Glass/Steagal
Thinks our country's biggest problem is our $16 trillion debt. Yay austerity!
Claims her business would hire more people if her income taxes were lower.
Unfortunately I didn't have an opportunity to go into depth on any of these issues with her, although a friend of mine is following up on her Glass/Steagal reasoning. I know it's not news to anybody on this site that the Very Serious People In Charge are clueless, but it's pretty disheartening to experience first hand, especially from someone who has so much going for her.
Anyway, just had to vent, thanks for listening. If anyone has any ideas on how to reach these people through the Conventional Wisdom BS, please share.
