Romney has another problem. He's Mormon, you know. Crazy evangelicals have a problem with that. They think the Mormon faith is a cult. So, while he has spent much of his life and fortune in activities related to his faith, he's too afraid to say much about it. Face it. If he loses the evangelicals, women, people of color, union members, LGBT, educated people, liberals/progressives, and youth, there's not much left. So, best not to mention his faith too much. Or so it seems.
When asked whether his stance on marriage equality is based on his faith, the campaigner extraordinaire says, "It's based upon what I believe is right for the nation and the building of strong generations for the future."
Perfect answer! The right wing has been working for years to drive up voter participation by using this particular wedge issue. It has always been based on not wanting to offend the bible-thumpers. And something about Jesus.
Someone like Frothy Santorum could step right up and explain that sex for pleasure is an affront to all that is holy. Procreation is the only goal.
But I'm-Not-Sure-What-I-Believe-Romney can only attribute his aversion to marriage equality to national pride. Yeah, that works.
