I just lurve the sunshine sunshine SUNSHINE - HEY! :D
It's time for "this day in history." On this date in 1770, Marie Antoinette, age 14, married the future King Louis XVI of France, who was 15. AND, they both lost their head over the relationship {insert rim shot here}! Too soon? ;D On this date in 2007, again in France, Nicolas Sarkozy took over from Jacques Chirac as France's president. Now, Little Nicky's gone but has his hot model wife to comfort him.
Let's get SPARKy! :D Here's a word combination in a headline I'd never thought I'd see - "cultural" & "Alabama"! Someone had a blast with a crystal ball. :) Finally, if these critters are looking for City Lights Bookstore, they're in the way wrong damn part of town! :D
On with The Rachel Maddow Show...
"With All Dude Respect" - MENSA folk are into mail - order brides, too? Well, that DOES kind of go with the kind of policies they're trying to take women back to. On a serious note, many foreign women who are basically bought by men, marry them, then the men decide to start beating on them, the women have the choice to stay in the abusive relationship or possibly departed. This part of the Violence Against Women Act is in the House, and they want that protection for these women gone. The politics around this issue comes from some "entitlement" the GOBP feels they have because of the 2010 election results. 1 "man" lobbying to put the kibosh on this was recently arrested for felony abuse against his wife. Another man is in charge of one of those mail - order bride sites. This shtick oozes something just south of class. Dems on Capitol Hill are actually going all out to show just how mysoginistic the MENSA peeps are. How 'bout that Rep. Gwen Moore?! And, the House bought into the aforementioned shtick. Now, Washington DC itself is on the chopping block because of abortion rights - because of some rep from the "Show Me Your Papers" state. Rep. Trent Franks isn't even allowing the DC rep to participate in the hearing he's holding about that $hit. Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton is the 1 who's been disinvited from tomorrow's fun.
"Unexpected Windfall for Democrats" - Did we REALLY need that revisit of losers from the 2010 elections?! I mean, yea, sure, they lost, but I wasn't exactly planning on a view of their pie holes tonight! The "standard" GOBP choice in NE got his clock cleaned a la Richard Lugar, so that Senate seat in NE might go Dem. Rachel thinks the seat for "my fair state" is in play, too; I'm not so sure about that...AT ALL. Mr. Tea Bagger Mourdock could very well win. The WWF chick from CT is trying again, too!
"Thank You & Welcome Home" - A couple more parades for Iraq War vets are planned for Richmond, VA & Kansas City, MO. Most vets & their families want us out of Afghanistan yesterday, and there is apparently a plan in the works, and Richard Engel's in studio to talk exit plans. Much of getting out of Afghanistan depends on Pakistan...OH GOODY! *&^%$#@! Pakistan has closed its border thereby curtailing transportation of supplies. Now, material & personnel WILL apparently be able to exit Afghanistan Stage Right, BUT Pakistan wants coin & lots of it. What incredible $hits; they were only hiding OBL for spark's sake! *&^%$#@!
"He Who Must Not be Named" - GWB "endorsed" Mittens yesterday; however, that rousing endorsement didn't make the press releases from the Mittens campaign site. Christine "I'm Not a Witch & No Relation to Lawrence" O'Donnell's endorsement made BANNER headlines! Mittens didn't even use GWB's name in a stump speech in FL! $HIT! GWB thinks the Keystone Pipeline should be approved, he's recently talked Arab Spring recommendations, and he's "writing a book" about economic growth. Let me repeat that; HE'S "WRITING A BOOK" ABOUT ECONOMIC GROWTH. He's about as qualified to write about THAT subject as I am writing on the virtues of $aint $arah from Wasilla's mothering skills.
"The Best New Thing in the World Today" - And, Jane Lynch is our guest host! I love her in the Christopher Guest movies!! :D No, I don't watch Glee. A GWB pollster is actually suggesting the GOBP tone down their anti - gay bat$hit rhetoric & reminding MENSA folk what "freedom" actually means. Rachel's insights from the "pundit" & "gay" point of view was very enlightening! ;D VP Biden's one of Miss Lynch's favorite folks. :D She pointed out the Will & Grace people would be thrilled. How 'bout Ellen DeGeneres?! Miss Jane also thinks Mittens devolving on the issue is all politics.
