I didn't see this anywhere else on Daily Kos, if I missed it let me know and I'll gladly remove my entry.
This just in from Chris Bowers to Wisconsin Kossaks:
Steven, last week, tens of thousands of activists like you appealed to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to start sending financial resources to help win the Wisconsin recall elections. Your appeals were successful, as the DNC just sent a fundraising email supporting the recalls to millions of their members.
Their help could not come at a better time. A new internal poll from the Tom Barrett campaign shows him pulling to within just 3 points of Scott Walker, and actually leading among independents. That means that if we can get the Democratic base in Wisconsin to turn out, then we will recall Scott Walker on June 5.
Looks like all those calls, emails, blog entries, comments have started to pay off...the pressure we've been putting on the DNC is working.
Thisfrom the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
The Democratic National Committee is asking its national supporters in an email Wednesday to contribute to the recall fight against Gov. Scott Walker.I don't know anymore details at this time. It would seem to me, that optimally the DNC should just send the 500K the Wisconsin Democratic Party requested ASAP. With the election only 2 weeks away, time is essential. Hopefully the DNC can get these new donations working for Walker's recall right away! We can't afford to wait much longer. Kudos to Debbie Wasserman Schultz for listening to us and at least finally doing something.
A party official said the solicitation is going out to “millions” of people who have supported the party and the Obama campaign in the past.
The national party has been criticized by some on the left for not doing more for Tom Barrett’s campaign against Gov. Scott Walker.
Party officials have pushed back against that criticism.
“The DNC is fully committed to helping Mayor Barrett win next month’s recall election in Wisconsin,” said Melanie Roussell, DNC Spokeswoman. “DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has spoken to Mayor Barrett and has pledged the DNC’s support for his successful election next month. She will host a fundraiser for Mayor Barrett, and the DNC will utilize both its substantial network of activists, volunteers and supporters and extensive online resources to assist in building the ground game that will win on Election Day.”
Better late than never.
Now, let's send Walker packing. Most recent polling has Barrett only down by 3...this is still anybody's race folks, don't let anyone tell you differently...but we must fight and fight hard for it.
