The idea of phone banking makes me so nervous, but I really, really want to do something to help Wisconsin. I sent some money to the Wisconsin democrats and to Tom Barrett's campaign, but I know that's just a drop in the bucket.
Puddytat wrote a diary about how we can help by phone banking, so tonight I got up the nerve to get started. It wasn't until about 7:20 I got started and filling out the form and all took some time so I didn't get very far.
I'll be honest, I didn't do much. I made 6 calls but 4 of the calls were no answer. One was an answering machine, so I repeated the script that Puddytat gave. I did get through to one person, and she was leaning toward voting for Barrett. I think she was impressed when I told her I was calling from Virginia and that the whole country was watching what was going on in Wisconsin.
Okay, I know it's a good thing, but my voice was shaking the whole time and my heart was beating so fast. I just couldn't go on after the 6th call. Anyway, it's getting close to 8pm Central time.
I hope I can get up the nerve to do it again tomorrow. Or the next day.
Is anyone else doing this?
