Yesterday I took note of the apples on our Granny Smith for reference. Though there were some truly tiny ones, they generally seemed to range in size from ping-pong ball size up to golf ball size or slightly larger. As a reference datum for the future, I get:

More importantly, Ms. Towhee was more than usually vocal about anybody in the backyard, and alerted my wife to the existence of a Towhee fledge small enough to fit into the palm of your hand. Clearly a quite recent fledge.
