Okay, now I'm begging
I'm beginning to get a bit panicky because I have TONS of empty shifts at the booth and for staging at our Netroots for the Troops "33-Minute Miracle" CARE package assembly event at Netroots Nation this week. I am desperately in need of folks to help out at the booth, to help with staging the CARE package items and then to help pack boxes at the Main Event.
Details are below. I'm asking folks to Recommend this post so that as many people as possible see it.
Hi, folks. As I wrote about last week, I am coordinating the volunteers for the Netroots for the Troops (NFTT) effort in a couple of weeks at Netroots Nation in Providence. If you are unfamiliar with NFTT, click HERE.
If you are interested in helping us out, we could use all the volunteers we can get. There are three ways to volunteer:
- Help staff the NFTT booth on Thursday and Friday (with one person at the booth on Saturday).
- Help set up the staging area on Saturday morning where we will be assembling the CARE packages later that day.
- Help pack the CARE package boxes!
There are shifts set up for the booth on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. With a couple of exceptions, these are overlapping, 2-hour shifts that ensure we always have two people working at the booth (except for Saturday when we'll only have one.) For the other two items, we need as many people as possible on hand. This is a big undertaking and the more people we have, the easier and more enjoyable it will be.
I have put up a spreadsheet using Google Docs where you can sign up for as much as you wish to. You can find it here:
Netroots for the Troops 2012 Volunteer Sign-up.
When you go to that page, you will see three tabs (look to the bottom left for the tabs.) Tab 1, which is where that link takes you, is the Booth Duty sign-up. We need one person for each shift. Simply fill in your name, phone number and email on the line for that shift. (If you are reluctant to provide that information publicly, please put your name there and then email your contact information at eclectablog [at] gmail.) I need your mobile phone number so I can track you down if you are a no-show ;)
Tab 2 is for the staging of the CARE package items on Saturday morning, 9-noon. Again, we need as many folks as possible.
Tab 3 is for the CARE package assembly which starts at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Thanks in advance for signing up early and often. The more shifts we get filled early, the less heartburn I, your intrepid volunteer coordinator, will have.
Warm regards,
Chris/Eclectablog
P.S. There is still time to donate and to help Team Eclectablog meet its fundraising goal of $2,000. You can do that HERE.
UPDATE: One of the things we're very much in need of is for people to write letters to our service men and women. While you are at NN12, please stop by and drop off a letter (or write one there) so that we can include it in the CARE packages. These personal touches take a well-received package to the level of an emotionally-important gesture. There will be a standard letter from our board, and one from Mechanix Wear, but I'd love to have letters from ohter folks as well. Markos, this means YOU! LOL. Thanks so much!
