Fellow Kossacks: This is an urgent matter.
I had the honor of meeting leema (a wonderful Kossack - I had no idea we're practically neighbors) and other progressive supporters of our Levitt 2012 Senate campaign with Dennis Kucinich and Norman Solomon yesterday! Numerous Kossacks and plenty of progressives have voted for me and we've been picking up tremendous steam. (Politico just interviewed me about Senate leadership in technology - including the likes of SOPA, PIPA and CISPA - as well as drug policy, and it should be great, keep an eye out tonight.)
If you're unfamiliar with the Levitt 2012 campaign platform, please visit Levitt2012.org. It endorses the open-source progressive platform Rebuild the American Dream popularized by Van Jones, among others.
In our top-two US Senate primary, the leading/best funded/party endorsed Republican, Elizabeth Emken has only got 4% of the vote. It's fantastic. I, a new progressive Democrat inspired by folks like Wellstone and Solomon, might win the second spot with just 5 or 6%.
But confusion by Democrats could prevent us from winning.
Too many of us, challenged by the unusual math of this brand new top-two race, could cost us the most amazing prize -- 2 Democrats and no Republican on California's ballot in November.
In this top-two race, Senator Feinstein literally has 10x the votes of Emken already. At this point a vote for Feinstein is wasted. In fact, now each vote for Feinstein hurts us Democrats and helps Republican Elizabeth Emken undeservedly onto our blue California ballot. The 25% undecided in this confusing, under-reported race should all be voting for other Democrats tomorrow. Like David Levitt.
* A 'safe' vote for Dianne Feinstein helps Republican Elizabeth Emken onto the ballot.
* A 'joke' vote for Orly Taitz helps Republican Elizabeth Emken.
* A blank 'protest' vote against Feinstein for Senate helps Elizabeth Emken.
Even if you LOVE Senator Feinstein and think she's perfect, don't help Elizabeth Emken by voting for Feinstein in the primary! Vote Levitt and with a single digit win, we will keep all 14 Republicans off the November ballot and make history. Even if you're certain you'll want to vote for Senator Feinstein in November, don't rob our party of this historic victory! If you prefer Feinstein, November is the time to vote for her.
If we're smart, California can have a November ballot with no Republican on it for the first time since 1856.
So please help all our California Kossacks be smart.
Make sure every California voter knows it's the smart move to vote David Alex Levitt, Computer Scientist/Engineer, on their Senate ballots tomorrow.
On Thursday at NetRoots Nation we don't want to report an embarrassing tragedy - that frightened Kossacks trying to help Dianne Feinstein instead helped a Republican who was polling at 4% onto the California ballot - because we weren't paying attention, or because we were bad at math.
