I'm sure there's not a one of us who haven't once or twice ::cough::a day::cough:: received a letter asking for our kind assistance in shuttling millions of dollars around Nigerian bank accounts. After all, we ARE responsible people and of COURSE the Prince of Nigeria needs our help... oh wait, it's spam. My bad. A pox of dead parrots on each and every one of those who send these bits of electronic litter.

What we received Sunday, though... it was a settlement offer from the Chairman  of the Debt Reconciliation Committee himself, from his official United Nations Yahoo address even! Our name had been on a list submitted by the  Monitoring Team of Economic and Financial Crime Commission observers. In case any of you have not yet received your letter, I've reprinted it below:

Thanks for your understanding.

I am fully supportive of making the world a better place for all and ending poverty, aren't we all? I'm planning on getting in touch with the helpful Nigerian bank representative after Netroots Nation, and with any luck my Cheque/Atm MASTERCARD will be here in time to donate before the 3rd quarter campaign reporting deadlines. Where do you think I should direct my soon-to-be newfound wealth?

That is, unless my disclosing the contents of my email to you third parties invalidated my Scam Compensation Eligibility.

Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.

Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
