This place has been about as far from a "reality-based community" as humanly possible these last few weeks as it pertains to Wisconsin.
Lots of people with their head in the sand, ignoring every poll, every sign that this was going to be a cakewalk for Walker, who happened to have these little things called money and name recognition on his side.
Why did this recall election even move forward after the Wisconsin progressives failed to even re-take the senate in the earlier recalls? Did no one think, "Hmm, maybe that's a sign that we should figure out a different tact?"
It's like this supreme tunnel vision where you assume everyone must hate Walker (except for a few fire-breathing conservatives) because you do.
Well hey, Walker will still be governor tomorrow, the democrats will be weaker in wisconsin in the eyes of the nation, as unfortunately so will Obama, and all because no one deemed to glance at the writing on the wall.
And seriously, can we not go into dozens of diaries tonight/tomorrow about how the gop "stole" this election and how Barrett would have won if not for x or y dirty trick? It's pathetic.
Wisconsin could have taken all of the passion and anger and commitment and really done something with it - instead they chose to get back on the hamster mill of big money election politics and are now paying dearly for it.
