In tournament chess, games are frequently followed by you and your opponent moving from the tournament room to a "Skittles" room, where you replay the game, analyzing it and both players look for where they could have played better. Outside of tournaments, I play roughly 7500 games of chess, annually. In order to improve my instincts, I've studied Psychology and Military History extensively. Still, after you've played several games against an opponent and are repeatedly dominated, it's time to stop playing him (women in chess are extremely rare) and review what errors you've made.
As Democrats, it's time for us to review where we're going wrong and look to improve our game.
I've been trying to come up with ideas for why Republicans seem to outplay the Democrats on every issue. Our attempts at hierarchy result in Gray (sp?) Davis's Recall while theirs result in Party discipline.
A visual survey of my Facebook Friends shows 95% of my Friends are European American (White) Republicans.
My sister posted last week that she'd un-Friended '. . .an ignorant bigot. . ." I didn't un-Friend him, as I explained to her, because once I've drawn the line at bigotry or ignorance (or both), there aren't many people left in the world.
My best friend's wife is an endocrinologist and they pull in $5000/week from their paychecks alone. In justifying why she's a Republican, she said it's because (paraphrasing) 'taxes go to Welfare, which goes to lazy Black people.'
Most of my high school Friends are Republicans because they were born wealthy, think that's the only correct way of the universe, and because they oppose abortion (likely under any circumstances, but it seems to lack nuance for them, collectively).
I'd like to see your ideas for where we could 'improve our game.' It seems to me that (apart from the Clinton Administration, where he was nevertheless Impeached) Republicans have outplayed us every day. Why is this, or is it primarily a function of the Republicans having most White votes and most of the money?
