By Karin Johanson Campaign Manager for Tammy Baldwin for Senate
For everyone who is trying to project what last night’s results in the Wisconsin recall election mean for November and Tammy Baldwin’s US Senate campaign, here are a few thoughts:
The National Republican Party waited just minutes after last night's election was called before they started attacking Tammy. This proves what we’ve known all along: that the Wisconsin Senate seat is amongst the right-wing’s highest priorities.
And while the NRSC is attempting to cast doubt on Tammy’s electability, I know she’s a candidate who will fight back against their attacks.
I've known Tammy Baldwin a long time. And in all those years, I've seen her fight smears like these many times before and she did so because she has the backbone and guts to stand up to powerful interests in Washington and do the right thing for Wisconsin.
Tammy Baldwin is someone who stands by her convictions. The voters in Wisconsin have always admired that kind of leadership. She’ll keep fighting to move Wisconsin forward and won’t back away from her progressive beliefs. That is something Wisconsinites admire most.
The next 68 days will be a roller coaster for the GOP of Wisconsin. The 4-way primary means whoever emerges from the battle will be battered and broken. On our side, the strength of Tammy’s candidacy has cleared the primary field and the grassroots of Wisconsin are united behind our fight, ready to take on the powerful special interests anew.
On November 6, we will see a wholly different electorate across Wisconsin. Polls have shown that Tammy inspires students, women and minorities by wide margins that will turn out to support her in November. Voters also show strong support for Tammy’s fight to take on the special interests and fight for the middle class.
If you’re ready to support Tammy’s fight, head to http://wi.tammybaldwin.com/... and help us finish June with the strongest possible showing.
I’ll be back at 5pm CT to answer the top three comments as voted on by all of you. You can also stay up to speed on Tammy’s campaign by following her on Twitter, @TammyBaldwinWI.
