Scott Walker was interviewed by CBS News on the subject of the national implications of his Tuesday night victory. In the usual MSM version of reporting, the reporter asks questions and the interviewee gets to say whatever he wants, as answers go unchallenged.
In his answer he obliquely made reference to the austerity language of Simpson Bowles and the 'tough choices' they love to impose upon people.
CBS News correspondent Dean Reynolds asked Walker if "there's a lot of talk about how this race had national implications and I'm wondering what do you think about it?"
"Well, I think the biggest thing goes beyond just November. It really goes to the heart of how people govern after the November elections. I think the message voters sent for Wisconsin, across the country and around the globe was voters are serious when they say they want their leaders to take on tough decisions and I think that is what was at stake."
Wow, around the globe even! Sure, Scott, people in Greece are setting themselves on fire thanks to their governments austerity plans, but voters are 'serious' and are in solidarity with your 'tough decisions'.
They go on to discuss whether the results have implications specifically for Mitt Romney's campaign. He makes reference to the imaginary federal spending binge Republicans are obsessed with
CBS News correspondent Dean Reynolds asked the governor if there is a lesson for presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
"Oh I think so. Again I think that people across America, certainly in my state, understand that America is at a tipping point and that we cannot sustain the kind of unprecedented growth we have right now in the national federal government. If the governor were to come in and talk specifically about how he is going to do this ... The risk that he is willing to take to turn the country around, I think that would be compelling," Walker said.
and calls for Mitt Romney to 'get specific' on how he will contain the 'prairie fire' of unprecedented growth. I guess Walker's been too wrapped up in his recall efforts to notice that Mitt is keeping mum on what he plans to do to the American people should he be elected and getting him to 'be specific' would be like
pulling teeth.
