Here is an idea to win over sceptics:
Compare Obama jobs plan from September 2012 to Bush's Iraq war auth bill in 2002. Even if jobs bill may not create enough jobs that Obama claims, so what? Did the war in Iraq, a trillion dollars later do what it was supposed to do? At least in this case, if Obama is overstating jobs creation it will end up creating fewer jobs here in USA rather than creating jobs in Iraq and in Blackwater. We pay for it with deficits. Just like we paid for war with deficits. Forget taxes on rich. Not gonna happen. But if we can pay for war with deficits, then we can pay for re-hiring cops and firefighters and teachers with deficits.
There has to be a direct comparison of jobs plan with Iraq war.
And then Republicans will be boxed into a corner they cannot argue out of no matter how articulate they try to be. They cannot poke holes on Obama jobs plan due to deficit funding of the bill. Iraq war was paid in midst of tax cuts and paid with deficits. And we take tax increases off the table. Billionaires, continue to enjoy your Bush tax cuts. Not going to touch them. Now what's the argument against Obama jobs plan? That Obama is over-stating the effect of jobs plan? Well, we have had over-stated and exaggerated cases for going to war , havent we? We did start the war before the inspections were over, didnt we? We did go to war based on "Intelligence", rather than actual discovery of WMDs. We never located actual WMDs. We had "Intelligence" about WMDs. Just like that, I cannot prove jobs plan will create X number of jobs, until we implement it. But based on intelligence that austerity has failed in Europe, we need to try something opposite and get the cops, firefighter and teachers back on payroll.
If you can spend trillion dollars on war in Iraq, then you can spend trillion dollars in re-hiring cops, firefighters and teachers and get the economy going again with demand driven growth.
If you voted to create jobs in Iraq, then you can vote to create jobs in USA. Otherwise it means that you are waiting for new President to do the same thing and this whole debt and deficit concerns are designed to make current administration fail so that Republicans can win elections.
