I run a food cart in a pod of carts in downtown Portland, OR. Mitt Romney was in town on Monday (6/4) taking checks from the wealthy at the Governor Hotel, across the street from us. Lots of important people come to the Governor Hotel. It has recently hosted Tim Geithner, Mayor Sam Adams, and both candidates for last year's gubernatorial election.
But only this time was our side of the street shut down to pedestrian traffic. It was shut down from 10:30am until almost 2pm. Without pedestrians, we had to close for the day, costing me about $300. I had to send my employees home. The good news is our congressman, Earl Blumenauer heard about this and members of his staff interviewed cart owners. He is asking the police and Secret Service to respond to questions about why they felt they needed to close the far side of the street.
I know not much will come of this, but I just wanted to share with y'all something that happened to me personally and why I will even more not be voting for Mitt Romney.
