Many of you have heard about the fall of 38 Studios, a company with which I was quite involved for the last few years, working as a consultant (COW - Creator of Worlds...Moo).
Well, with the sudden collapse of that studio, several hundred people got a quick instruction manual on the value of Romneycare.
Let me explain...
You see many of the employees lived in Rhode Island, but some remained in Massachusetts. Almost all who lived in Rhode Island had moved there from Massachusetts.
One of the most important, pressing, disastrous things for these folks was maintaining health insurance. There were people with serious conditions, expensive preexisting conditions, and several couples with babies on the way.
If you remained in Rhode Island, your option was to pick up a COBRA-like (COBRA didn't even actually apply, apparently, for some legal entanglement reasons) coverage via BCBS for near to $1,000/month.
For those in Massachusetts, there was the Mass Health Connector, which offered guidance on low-cost (income based), quality health care.
Many of the former employees moved right back to Massachusetts in order to be able to maintain health care.
I consider it a first-hand view of the difference between having Obamacare and having the Supremes strike it down. I know a couple of people who really had their eyes opened, and in a hurry.
Just saying...
