And, we all await another SCOTUS decision where I yet again hope for the best but expect the worst.
It's time for "this day in history." On this date in 1963, JFK declared he was a jelly doughnut. :D On this date in 1973, former White House counsel John W. Dean told the Senate Watergate Committee about an "enemies list" kept by the Nixon White House. Yea, well, Dick Nixon can go Cheney himself. And, bringing up another SCOTUS decision, Washington DC was made even more of a shooting gallery than it already was when it struck down a handgun ban in the District of Columbia as it affirmed, 5 - 4, an individual right to gun ownership. Get yer oozies right here, boys & girls!
Let's lighten the mood with some SPARK. :D We are a brewski kind of nation - Blech! Here's an interesting new weapon to protect yourself from break - ins. Oh that George Zimmerman had been armed with just one of these. Finally, who would've thunk one of the Jackson 5 is a political scientist?
On with The Rachel Maddow Show!
"Honor/System" - Mittens had asked the FL Governator to stop bragging about job creation there because it's off message?! HA! Wow, how pathetic is that?! Lots of other MENSA Governors have been doing the same off messaging - like Governor Vaginal Probe & Governor Former FAUX News Employee. Too funny... :D VP Biden was in IA today giving a hell of a speech; Mittens was there, also, again to talk about how miserable things are there. More off messaging! The Mittens message is that the economy's bad, so President Obama should be fired, but don't pay attention or ask about what Mittens will do as POTUS. Mittens never worked for Bain Capital nor was he ever Governor of MA. Lots of television machine ad time was spent today defending Senator Sherrod Brown. Senator Claire McCaskill, however, ain't going to the Dem convention in SC because she's afraid she'll lose her MO Senate seat. She's not the only one saying "thanks but no thanks" to going to the convention. Senator Jon Tester is a Dem not going, either, but his MENSA component ain't going to the MENSA convention in FL, either! This is a hoot! IAVA is feared on Capitol Hill & in Congress?! HA! Good!! Veterans overall seem to have more pull, according to Rachel. HOWEVER, over a million veterans are waiting for disability claims - often for a year! - through the VA. Oye'... &^%$#@! The backlog will be resolved by 2015. O...K... A Dem Congress critter wants the VA to be run more like the IRS. Veterans' groups don't want this massive change, but they ain't happy with how things are now.
"Honor/System Part Deux" - This segment began with a repeat of Rep. Bob Filner's outrage at the current VA system, and he's running for San Diego mayor. Yea, I think I'd rather be in San Diego than in DC, too! Lots of veterans die before they ever get any benefits. Rep. Filner believes the huge disconnect between those fighting these wars & the rest of us is too wide, and those who actually claim to be against war need to be more demonstrative about supporting returning vets.
"No Visible Means of Support" - What a lovely image of TurdBlossom to begin this segment & the ads that have absolutely to do with no specific Dem candidate whatsoever. And, $aint $arah from Wasilla's gonna begin studying nuclear physics tomorrow morning. The FEC is supposed to be making determinations about if these ads that aren't about specific candidates are really about specific candidates. Otherwise, TurdBlossom will have to disclose his donors & called the FEC thugs in the process. What a lovely "man!" We also need to consider the site of TurdBlossom's vitriol - FAUX News, boys & girls! Cheap shot, but does TurdBlossom look more fat than usual?
"The Interview" - Senator Jon Tester's been the subject of TurdBlossom ads that aren't about him at all! ;D He represents the state - the 1 state - that's tried to buck Citizens United; that would be Montana, y'all. And, here's Senator Tester with the Johnny Unitas hair cut. :) No one in MT is happy with the decision yesterday & with Citizens United; the ill will crosses party lines if Senator Tester is to be believed. Senator Tester said Dem candidates need to be smarter with their money & their ads. Senator Tester, Dems need to stop bringing sporks to gun fights & find their own Sheldon Adelsons or Mr. Aspirin Knee dude or whoever is rich enough to buy the Oval Office.
"And by Jobs You Mean...?" - As we all know, jobs - jobs - jobs has really been about abortion - abortion - abortions. And, heaven help you if you say VAGINA during the dialogue about the subject! Senator (&^%$#@!) Doc Rand Paul tried to add a bunch of bat$hit non - job amendments to legislation on the Senate floor today, so whatever was being discussed was put on the kibosh. The specific casualty today was flood insurance. Some parts of the country are getting a $hit load of rain. In my part of the country, lawns crunch when you step on them, and a whole mess of places won't have fireworks on July 4 because of likelihood they will start fires. The "lovely" Senator wanted to add the MS personhood amendment to the flood insurance bill, and Senator Reid actually got pi$$ed (?). He apparently gave a hell of a speech but needs to learn some fire & brimstone delivery for such an occasion. I like the "alternate universe" Senator Reid much better! :D
