Only once in a blue moon do I get pushed over the edge enough on some issue to bother doing a diary or make any comments.
Well, this sent me over the edge.

UK ready to take on Israel over fate of children clapped in irons
Report funded by Foreign Office details claims of routine abuse for Palestinian youths
And whoever reads this don't even start with the yada, yada, yada about how other countries are just as bad or the US is just as bad----WE KNOW THAT ALREADY.

The POINT IS--- Israel is the one country where the US could shut this kind of abuse of underage children down in heartbeat by simply whispering in the Israeli ear...."Keep it up assholes and kiss your 30 billion US taxpayer dollars and UN vetoes good by".

The Foreign Office revealed last night that it would be challenging the Israelis over their treatment of Palestinian children after a report by a delegation of senior British lawyers revealed unconscionable practices, such as hooding and the use of leg irons.

In the first investigation of its kind, a team of nine senior legal figures examined how Palestinians as young as 12 were treated when arrested. Their shocking report Children in Military Custody details claims that youngsters are dragged from their beds in the middle of the night, have their wrists bound behind their backs, and are blindfolded and made to kneel or lie face down in military vehicles.

Children from the West Bank are held in conditions that could amount to torture, such as solitary confinement, with little or no access to their parents. They can be forced to stay awake before being verbally as well as physically abused and coerced into signing confessions they cannot read.

The team – led by Sir Stephen Sedley, a former Court of Appeal judge – heard that "every Palestinian child is treated like a potential terrorist". In a damning conclusion, the report points out repeated breaches of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which prohibits cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment

When the Dems get ready to take on US HYPOCRISY AND US drones blowing up children and Israel imprisoning them--let me know.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Not only are the children arrested they are severely beaten.

    As B'Tselem uncovered:

B'Tselem indicates that while he was detained, soldiers beat and kicked him in the back. The violence continued in the interrogation room at the Etzion police station, where the interrogator beat him. Jaradat was sentenced to two months' imprisonment, which he served among adult prisoners.

I actually just did a ton of research on Palestine during the 1980s and 1990s, and the story doesn't seem to have changed. When the first Intifada broke out, anthropologists from Israel, Palestine, the US and other countries were actually there doing research which had nothing to do with the outbreak of the war. They have released a ton of research over the years from that time period detailing how the Israelis treated Palestinian children. Palestinian boys regarded this horrific violence (and apparently still do) as a rite of passage into manhood.

A fantastic journal article was published late last year by two anthropologists entitled "The Ethnographic Arriving of Palestine." It is filled with links to various articles released over the past couple of decades, and an entire section on gender and violence, both within the Palestinian community and between Palestine and Israel.

What the Israelis have been perpetrating against the Palestinians, of all ages, by dehumanizing them thereby making it easy to treat them like monsters, is absolutely horrific. It sickens me that we are allies with them.

Time is of no account with great thoughts, which are as fresh to-day as when they first passed through their authors' minds ages ago. - Samuel Smiles

to write this diary. It's hard to tell whether your criticism of Israel stems from genuine human rights concerns or Antisemitism.

Judging from your comment history, you have made many Anti-Semitic claims. Such as this one:

    LOL (0+ / 4-)
"Do not fuck with them unless you want your ass handed back to you "

I'm an American-American and I fuck with Israel every day in public opinion and with my politicians  and haven't had my ass handed to me yet.

You were HR'd for this reason:
I have no choice but to HR this comment (5+ / 0-)
You said you are an American-American in order to distinguish yourself from Morty who claims to be an American-Jew.

Well I've got news for you. Jewish-Americans are as much Americans as you and me, as are Muslim-Americans, Chinese-Americans and Spanish-Americans.

I perceive your comment to be a form of Antisemitism, which I will not tolerate because, Anti-Semitism is dangerous.

    Also as Sofia notes:
    What does this mean? (4+ / 0-)
    I'm an American-American
That Mortifyied somehow isn't quite as American as you because he is Jewish and supports Israel?
I've taken a look at your HR history at what all those those HRs were for.   It's a very ugly history.

Why don't you leave this diary.

Anyway people can form their own opinion. Here is your comment history. Notice all the HR's related to Jews and Israel?

    •  Still, it is an abhorrent practice. Particularly (1+ / 0-)

as it is designed to quell the parents' protest activities.  Completely outside the bounds of any conceivable "western" norm.

Protest your land and livelihood being stolen and your kid gets arrested in the middle of the night and sent to jail without contact and under duress (if not torture) for months, and/or until such time that Israel deems either the outrage will be too high (principal reason) or there's no more to be gained in the quelling process (i.e. that the kid has been forced to testify about enough protesting adults/parents.).

Add to that the 99+% conviction rate largely based on child testimony, stemming from interrogation in a foreign language, without parental contact, and you have a real, um, nasty little insight into what it takes to make a a decades-long Occupation run smoothly.

How many Occupy folks would acquiesce to having their kids arrested in the middle of the night and detained without contact for months, in an effort to stop them (the parents) from protesting, peacefully?  My sense is zero.  Heck, they might even get angry about it.
