A short diary, just a heads-up as to what we're dealing with when we turn our faces into the headwinds of Republican/conservative/fascist/anti-American opposition to health care. FreedomWorks, that lovely astroturf organization that pretends to represent "real Americans," is calling for us to "sign up for the uprising." On a Google ad that currently resides on DK's front page.
A tad more over the transom.
We the people declare independence from Obamacare.
Sign up for the uprising.
This is the text of an ad running right now on DK's front page. Here's a screenshot, in case it's gone by the time you read this:
I NEVER click on these fucking ads, in part because I want nothing to do with the corporate asshats who run them, and in part because Republican/conservative/fascist Web sites hose your computer down with spam and spyware. But I clicked on this one. Here's part of what greets you when you hold your nose and venture into the Lair of the Corporate Slime:
-- The government is forcing you to buy private products.
-- The ACA creates 159 new bureaucracies, 47 new agencies, 20 new taxes, and mandates the hiring of 16,500 new IRS agents.
-- "Canadian-style socialized medicine is wrong for America Repeal Obamacare"
Lie, lie, and lie. Of course.
The nomenklatura who want to control this country from dogcatcher to President want a reprise of the summer of 2009, when the Tea Party reared its lizardy head, windows were broken, citizens were assaulted, and democracy was threatened in a way not seen since the Civil War. They think that will sweep Romney into power, give them control of Congress, and give them their best chance yet to dismantle what democracy we have left.
It's an uprising, all right. A John Galt-like uprising of the privileged few against the nation as a whole.
Just a heads-up, y'all.
